What our report cards tell you, and what they do not
2026-07-18 · 5 min read
Grades, effort, attendance and teacher comments: how to read a Pioneer report, and why our transcript is not an accredited one.
Reports come at the end of each term. They carry a grade per subject, an effort mark, attendance, and a comment that should tell you something you did not already know.
Read the comment first. A grade tells you where the student landed; the comment tells you whether it was hard-won or coasting, and what to do next.
Effort and attainment are deliberately separate. A student can be working hard and still be behind, and that situation needs a different conversation from a capable student handing in less than they could.
Our transcripts are school-issued. Pioneer Academy is not accredited, and we are working toward it, so a receiving school or college may or may not accept our record. Ask them before you need the answer, not after.
If a report surprises you, something has gone wrong in our communication, not just in the classroom. Book a meeting and we will go through the work itself.

Thinking about the next school year?
Look through the grades, or talk to admissions about your child. A call takes twenty minutes, costs nothing, and we will tell you honestly if we are not the right school for them.
