Student support

Support for students who need something different

Learning support, pastoral care and, in the senior grades, guidance on what comes after school.

What support looks like

Planned with the family, not improvised

Our learning support lead reviews every new student's placement notes and agrees what is needed before term starts.

Learning support

Adjustments agreed with the family: more time, different materials, smaller steps, or a check-in at the start of each week. Reviewed each term rather than set once and forgotten.

Pastoral care

A named contact for the family, and teachers who raise a concern early. If a child stops turning up or stops handing work in, you hear from us that week.

College and careers

From grade 10: course choices, admissions tests, applications, references and financial aid deadlines, with a counsellor who is honest about what a given application needs.

What we are honest about

  • We are not a special education provider and we do not produce or administer statutory education plans. We will tell you at the admissions call if a child needs more than we can give.
  • We do not provide medical, psychological or therapeutic services. Where a family already works with a specialist, we will follow reasonable recommendations in class.
  • A parent or guardian is responsible for the child during the school day. Online school does not remove the need for an adult at home, particularly in the younger grades.

Take the next step

Tell us about your child

The more you tell admissions up front, the better the first term goes. Nothing you share is used for anything other than placing and teaching your child.
